Report Vandals – KeNHA Urges after Makupa Causeway Theft

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is working speedily to restore the structural integrity of the Makupa Causeway bridge in Mombasa following vandalism that saw huge chunks of steel bars carted away.

The authority was this week forced to temporarily close the busy bridge to undertake emergency repairs following the vandalism incident that has shocked Kenyans. Thieves cut off the supporting beams from under the bridge in what appears to be a well-organized operation.

Here is KeNHA’s full statement:

“Following vandalism of Makupa Causeway bridge located on the mainland bound traffic, remedial action is being taken to repair the bridge. As the contractor repairs the bridge, continuous monitoring is being undertaken to ensure safety of motorists as they cross the bridge. Motorists are encouraged to be patient as remedial interventions are applied on the site.

KeNHA further urges the public to report all cases of vandalism to the police for swift action on those responsible. Our roads are our assets.”
