The Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK) has been lauded for its continued efforts in promoting professional development and upholding industry standards.
During the institute’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at The Panari Hotel in Nairobi, the Principal Secretary for Public Works, Mr. Joel Arumonyang, praised IQSK for launching two new publications aimed at equipping practitioners with up-to-date knowledge and tools. His remarks were conveyed in a speech read on his behalf by the Chief Quantity Surveyor at the Ministry, Mr. Martin Wamae.
He described the Construction Cost Handbook 2025/2026 and The Standards, Procedures and Practices for Estimating, Measurement, Pricing and Control of Construction Costs as timely resources that will support informed decision-making and help elevate standards in the construction sector. The Permanent Secretary also pledged the government’s continued support for IQSK’s mission.
The AGM brought together professionals from across the built environment to review the institute’s performance over the past financial year. Members were reminded to uphold the integrity and transparency that define the profession.
In a significant development, seven new members were admitted to the institute after a successful vetting process, reinforcing IQSK’s role as a trusted regulatory body in the industry.
The book launch was a key highlight of the day, led by IQSK President Mutinda Mutuku and QS. Wamae. The publications were enthusiastically received by attendees, with many praising them as essential tools for modern quantity surveying practice.
The event was sponsored by Basco Paints, whose General Manager, Mr. Aseem Doshi, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting professional institutions. He used the platform to introduce new product offerings and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between manufacturers and practitioners. – By Kiemo Teddy
