Chinese firms reaffirmed their dominance in Kenya’s construction products market as the 27th Build Expo Kenya opened today at the Carnivore Expo Grounds in Nairobi, attracting hundreds of industry professionals eager to explore the latest technologies and business opportunities.
The three-day exhibition, one of Kenya’s largest trade fairs for the building and construction sector, is being held alongside the 5th Watertech Kenya Expo, the 11th Light Expo, the 11th Afriwood East Africa 2026 and the 10th MineExpo Africa, bringing together exhibitors from the construction, water, energy, mining and manufacturing industries.
This year’s edition marks the exhibition’s first move from its long-time venue, the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), to the more spacious Carnivore Expo Grounds, providing larger indoor and outdoor exhibition areas for heavy machinery and industrial equipment.
Chinese companies occupied the largest share of exhibition space, showcasing products ranging from steel, roofing materials and ceramics to plumbing systems, electrical equipment, construction chemicals, solar solutions, power tools and earthmoving machinery. Besides China, the exhibition has attracted exhibitors from several other countries and regions, including Turkey and other Middle Eastern nations, Europe, India and across East Africa, reflecting the event’s growing international profile.
The opening day drew encouraging visitor numbers, with contractors, architects, engineers, developers, manufacturers and procurement professionals touring the exhibition in search of new products, suppliers and business partnerships.
Kenyan firms also maintained a strong presence. Among the local exhibitors are Muwi Roofing, Nirmal Fabricators and Ganatra Plant & Equipment, alongside several other companies showcasing locally manufactured building products and engineering solutions.
