The Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK) has called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the death of one of its members, Quantity Surveyor Edgar Otochi Mokua, whose body was reportedly discovered in Roysambu after he had been missing for several days.
In a statement issued on 17 July, the Institute expressed profound shock and sadness over the incident, describing Mokua as a respected professional whose contribution to Kenya’s built environment and the advancement of the quantity surveying profession will be remembered with appreciation.
IQSK extended its heartfelt condolences to Mokua’s family, friends and colleagues, noting that his passing is a significant loss not only to his loved ones but also to the wider professional community.
While acknowledging that investigations are ongoing, the Institute urged investigative and law enforcement agencies to conduct a comprehensive, transparent and expeditious inquiry to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
The professional body also condemned all forms of violence and criminal acts that threaten the safety, dignity and lives of Kenyans. It reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the welfare and dignity of members of the quantity surveying profession, saying it stands in solidarity with the bereaved family and joins all Kenyans in calling for justice through due process and the rule of law. As an institution founded on integrity and accountability, IQSK expressed confidence that the truth will be established and justice will prevail.
