Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) President Florence Nyole on Thursday led a delegation from the association to meet with Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja over various issues affecting the city’s built environment.

The discussions covered topics such as land use planning and development control, development permits, the county’s technical capacity deficiencies, building regularization, promoting local content, ensuring clean and accessible open spaces, climate action, single business permits, and sustainable infrastructure development.

Both parties agreed on several action points:

  • Reconstituting the Urban Planning Technical Committee with enhanced resources for information and financing.
  • Establishing a round table with AAK members to review and improve the NPDMS system.
  • Having AAK and other stakeholders assist the county government in developing local physical development plans throughout the city.
  • Developing a tracking system and conducting quarterly reviews of the action points.
