All Set for AAK 2022 Convention

AAK Convention 2022

The annual Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) Convention takes place this week at Sarova Whitesands in Mombasa. The event brings together building industry professionals including architects, quantity surveyors, engineers, project managers, town planners and environmental experts from around the country. Guest speakers may be drawn from these professions or other sectors including politics.

The theme of the three-day convention is “A Holistic Approach to Urban Governance”.

In June, the association launched a campaign dubbed ‘The Kenya We Want Campaign’ which seeks to highlight major issues faced by the construction industry that need to be addressed. Speaking at the time, the AAK President Wilson Mugambi cited the construction sector as a major contributor to the GDP of the country, one that provides direct and indirect employment to millions of people.

This year’s convention side events include a factory tour of Bamburi Cement, Kipevu Terminal 2 and Floating Bridge.

The chief guests at the various events include Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui and International Union of Architects President José Luis Cortés.
