Be Patient – KURA asks Likoni Road Users

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has asked stakeholders to be more patient as it pushes for the completion of the Likoni Road expansion works.

The contract was awarded to Cementers Limited for Kes 900 million last year. The contractor was expected to be through with the works this month but this target looks unachievable given the current state of the road. The 1.7km section links Jogoo Road with Lunga Lunga Road.

Members of the public have complained that it has taken too long to complete the project. The road was closed in September to allow the contractor to work uninhibited.

Once the section is completed, motorists will be on a dual carriage way from Mombasa Road/Southern Bypass intersection all the way to Jogoo Road.

The road will also incorporate a pedestrian walkway and cyclist path as well as an expansion of the bridge near Jogoo Road with a railway underpass.
