The Sh45 billion Cemtech Sebit Clinkerization plant in West Pokot has been commissioned.

The factory, which has been under construction for some time, will produce an estimated 6,000 metric tons of clinker daily.

It will also have a capacity of processing two million tons yearly, enough to supply the whole of East Africa.

The project, established at the Sebit limestone mines deposits hills in Kipkomo subcounty is owned by Cemtech limited, a subsidiary of the Devki Group of companies.

Speaking while officiating at the commissioning, President William Ruto commended the Devki Group for establishing the plant, noting that it would transform the face of West Pokot County through economic resurgence.

The plant is expected to benefit local cement manufacturers who have been importing clinker for their operations. As a result, it is expected that cement prices will go down.
