Engineer Erick Ohaga is New IEK President

The Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK), has elected Engineer Erick Ohaga as its 49th president.

Speaking after his inauguration, Eng. Ohaga vowed to ensure challenges facing the accreditation of engineering programs are tackled.

 “This will ensure that Engineers Board of Kenya is able to assure the rest of the world that programs being carried out under their watch are up to international standards and fast track Kenya’s journey towards joining the International Engineering Alliance,” Ohaga stated.

Ohaga is also the director of Nuclear Energy and Infrastructure Development at Nuclear Power and Energy Agency (NuPEA) and has previously worked at the Kenya Power and Lighting PLC as County Business Manager.

He currently serves in the World Federation of Engineering Organization (WFEO) Committee on Engineering Innovative Technologies and is a national interviewing panel member of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Alongside Eng. Ohaga, new council members who will be under his leadership were announced:

1st Vice-president: Eng. Grace Kagondu.

2nd Vice-president: Eng. Christine Adongo Ogut.

Honorary Secretary: Eng. Shammah Kiteme.

Other members:

1. Eng. Florah Mwendwa.

2. Eng. Dr. Elisha.

3. Eng. Jennifer Korir.

4. Eng. Paul Ochola.

5. Eng. Lilian Kilatya.

6. Eng. Jennifer Gache.

They will serve in the IEK Council for a term of two years. – Citizen Digital
