This year’s Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) annual international conference has adopted a hybrid style with both virtual and in person attendance. The move comes amid an increasing Covid-19 caseload in the country. Many other events have been held virtually or with limited in-person attendance since the onset of the pandemic.
A few weeks ago, IEK conducted a Twitter poll in which it asked potential participants to indicate if they preferred virtual or physical attendance. Nearly 67% of the respondents chose virtual attendance.
The conference theme this year is “Engineering a Post-COVID-19 Future” with a call for delegates to reflect on the current and future challenges facing the human race. The event will be held between 25th and 27th November 2020 at Pride Inn Hotel in Mombasa.
IEK seeks to promote and develop the engineering profession for sustainable development and welfare of humanity. It works in conjunction with other institutions and organizations that seek to promote and develop the engineering profession and best practices around the world.
