A granite processing plant will soon be established in Vihiga County. The government is close to signing a Ksh 2.5 billion investment deal with Equip Agencies Limited, a private investor. The plant will be built on a 5-acre piece of land that has already been set aside for the purpose.
Construction of the modern granite processing facility is expected to significantly boost the processing of minerals in Kenya, according to Mining Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi.
Granite is heavily used in engineering as a result of its rigidity, stability and exceptional vibration traits. It is also used for kitchen and other worktops, staircases, etc. Â Â Â
A geological report shows Vihiga County has significant deposits of the mineral. Other areas in Western Kenya with viable deposits include Kakamega, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu and Busia. – MyGov
