The Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) is set to benefit from the appointment of Hitesh Mediratta as its Chairperson, bringing to the role more than two decades of leadership in manufacturing and industrial development. As Managing Director of PG Bison Kenya, Mediratta has overseen the company’s growth into one of East Africa’s leading manufacturers of decorative wood-based panels and interior building products, while championing innovation, local value addition and sustainable production.
His experience comes at a critical time as Kenya seeks to strengthen its manufacturing base and reduce dependence on imported construction materials. Throughout his career, Mediratta has consistently advocated for policies that promote investment in local production, modern manufacturing technologies and a more competitive business environment. These priorities are expected to reinforce KAM’s role in shaping policies that support the construction industry, which relies heavily on a strong domestic manufacturing sector for quality building materials and finishes.
Having previously chaired KAM’s Timber and Furniture Sector and served on the association’s Trade and Tax Committee, Mediratta brings valuable insight into regulatory reform, regional trade and industrial competitiveness. His collaborative leadership style and understanding of manufacturing value chains position him well to strengthen partnerships between industry and government. For the construction sector, his appointment signals renewed momentum towards expanding local manufacturing capacity, improving supply chain resilience and encouraging greater use of high-quality, Kenyan-made building products.
