China Communication & Construction Company Limited has won a stage construction tender for the LAPSSET development project. The section awarded is the Lamu-Ijara-Garissa road and associated spur roads. The contract was signed by Kenya National Highways Authority Director-General Eng. Peter Mundinia and the Chinese company’s General Manager.
The project comprises the following road segments:
- Lamu-Ijara-Garissa (LAPSSET Corridor) – 257 km
- Hindi-Bodhei-Basuba-Kiunga Road – 113 km
- Ijara-Sangailu-Hulugho Road – 83 Km
The 453-kilometre project will cost the taxpayer Kes 17.9 billion and will take 36 months.
