The Bagamoyo–Tanga-Horohoro/Lunga Lunga-Malindi Road, a road connecting Kenya and Tanzania that was commissioned under the East African Community, is on course.

The road that covers approximately 54 kilometres within Kenya, is expected to be complete by 2025. The Kenya segment will cost Ksh7.5 billion ($50 million).

The project starts at the end of Nyali Bridge and runs in a northerly direction through Kengeleni, Nyali, Bamburi and Mtwapa.

The works entail the construction of a dual carriageway consisting of four lanes. There will also be grade separated junctions,  service  roads, major  and  minor drainage structures, access roads and social amenities along the road. The pavement   structure   comprises Asphalt Concrete surfacing, Dense   Bitumen Macadam base, cement  improved  Graded  Crushed  Stone  (GCS)  sub-base  and  natural material improved subgrade. A single seal surface treatment will be carried out on the main carriageway, shoulders, junctions and accesses, according to KeNHA.

The project is financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB), African Development Fund (ADF), European Union (EU) and Government of Kenya.
