MRM to Install Solar Power to Cut Energy Costs

Mabati Rolling Mills

Mabati Rolling Mills Ltd (MRM) will install a 727-Kilowatt Peak (kWp) solar power system at its Nairobi and Athi River facilities as part of its efforts to reduce energy expenses and contribute to the fight against carbon emissions. The power generated will be used exclusively for the company’s own operations.

GridX Africa Development Limited, a renewable energy solutions provider in Africa, will facilitate the installation, with a 592-kWp system being set up on the roof of MRM’s Nairobi plant and a 135-kWp system at the Athi River location.

As one of the largest providers of building solutions in Kenya and part of the Safal Group, MRM has a significant portfolio of products mainly in the roofing sector. The company is following in the footsteps of other large organizations in the country, such as Simba Cement, Maisha Mabati, and Total Energies, that have adopted solar energy to lower operational costs.
