Murang’a County government will use land ceded by Del Monte Kenya to put up new facilities that will benefit over a million people in the devolved unit.
The land, measuring 1,312 acres, has already been surveyed and subdivided for the construction of a commercial hub, a primary school, a modern market, and a public transport terminus adjacent to the Nairobi-Nyeri highway.
According to the master plan outlining the land’s development, 713 acres will be designated for industrial purposes. Within this allocation, 432 acres are set aside for an Export Processing Zone (EPZ), 69 acres for hazardous industries, 87 acres for packaging and assembly plants, and 120 acres dedicated to processing industries.
Murang’a County has been recognized as a benchmark for development, owing much of its progress to the leadership of Governor Irungu Kang’ata. Under his administration, the county has successfully completed numerous projects in sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, education, and healthcare, with many additional initiatives currently in progress. – Standard
