The National Construction Authority (NCA) has warned contractors that failure to renew their Annual Practicing Licences for two consecutive years will result in deregistration from the NCA Register of Contractors.
In a public notice dated 27th January 2026, the Authority said contractors who had not renewed their licences as at 1st January 2026 risk having their names deleted from the official register, in accordance with the National Construction Authority Act, No. 41 of 2011.
The NCA cited Section 25(1)(c) of the Act, which empowers the Authority to deregister contractors who fail to pay annual subscription fees for two consecutive years. Further, Section 25(5) stipulates that a contractor whose name has been deleted from the register shall not be registered afresh under any other name.
To avoid deregistration, affected contractors have been given until 10th February 2026 to clear all outstanding annual renewal fees and regularise their status.
The Authority also reminded contractors that renewal of an Annual Practicing Licence requires the mandatory accumulation of ten (10) Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points, earned through attendance of NCA or NCA-accredited CPD seminars, as provided under Regulation 14 of the NCA Regulations (2014).
All licence renewals must be processed exclusively through the NCA online portal at portal.nca.go.ke.
The notice was issued by Eng. Maurice Akech, MBS, the Executive Director and Registrar of Contractors, who urged contractors to comply within the stipulated timeline to remain in good standing.
