Mabati Rolling Mills Limited (MRM), Kenya’s premier roofing materials manufacturer, recently launched its SAFBUILD manufacturing plant at Athi River.

SAFBUILD is MRM’s innovative pre-engineered steel building (PEB) solution utilizing high tensile, cold-formed, galvanized-steel ‘C’ and ‘Z’-shaped structural portal frames which are clad using MRM’s roof and wall cladding solutions. The cold formed high strength frames are fully factory-produced ready for quick erection and assembly at site.

Said CEO Andrew Heycott during the launch: “SAFBUILD and SAFDESIGN now provide us with world class technology in Pre-Engineered Steel Building solutions which allows us to deliver buildings to clients within very tight timelines”.

“We believe this innovative investment will revolutionize the way modular steel buildings are constructed. This will further support the Government’s ‘Big Four’ agenda, further contribute to the competitiveness of Kenya’s manufacturing and agricultural sectors and help to ensure greater compliance to building standards.”

On his part, SAFBUILD’s Business Head, Manish Garg, expressed confidence that many projects across commercial, agricultural, industrial and social sectors would benefit from this new technology.

“Since commissioning we have produced and supplied several projects to satisfied clients and we have many more in the pipeline under current design and production”, he said

MRM is the largest company within the Safal Group and has been in operation since 1962.
