President Uhuru Kenyatta has insisted that the Nairobi Expressway will be competed in March 2022 as earlier announced. And he expressed optimism that he would be able to travel on the road from Machakos turn-off to Rironi via the Expressway. According to KeNHA, the project is nearly 90 percent complete.
The president spoke while on another inspection tour of the 27km road where he lowered the last box girder along the main carriageway. He was accompanied by Transport and Infrastructure CS James Macharia, top Ministry officials and representatives of the contractor.
It is however unclear if the rehabilitation of the existing road that has been severely impacted by the ongoing construction will also be complete by March.
The president took the opportunity to comment on the ongoing Uhuru Park renovations, taking a swipe at detractors who had gone to court claiming that the park was being destroyed.
