Eastleigh may not be your perceived “natural” location for an ultra-modern mega shopping mall, but that’s exactly what is coming up right in the heart of the populous Nairobi suburb.
The Business Bay Square (BBS) is a giant mixed-use development sitting on 6.4 acres along General Waruinge Street. The project, by Ten Commodities Wholesalers Limited, is set to rival Two Rivers Mall in terms of size and offering. However, Two Rivers sits on a much more expansive piece of land (102 acres), giving it room to accommodate much more facilities than BBS.
BBS houses retail shopping outlets, banking and financial services, health facilities, a hotel, residential apartments, offices, mosque and entertainment facilities, among others.
The project is being undertaken in two phases. The first phase is 90% complete with opening set for 2023. According to the developer, the second phase of the project, comprising the Hotel and Serviced Apartment Towers will begin as soon as the first phase is done.
The project team includes Maestro Architects, Mace YMR, Stroutel Africa, BML Limited and CRJE.
