Stakeholders Push for Higher Standards in Kenya’s Construction Industry

The Kenya Association of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors (KABCEC) reinforced its commitment to advancing professionalism, innovation and sustainable growth within the construction sector through the successful hosting of the KABCEC CPD Convention 2026 at Broadwalk Mall, Ojijo Road, Nairobi.

Held under the theme, “What Builds Kenya – Understanding Materials & Site Services (From Source to Site)”, the two-day convention brought together contractors, architects, engineers, quantity surveyors and key players within the built environment sector to discuss emerging trends, evolving technologies and the future of sustainable construction in Kenya.

Officially sponsored by Crown Paints Kenya PLC, the forum served as an important platform for industry professionals to exchange knowledge, earn Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points, renew practising licences and engage with experts shaping the future of the construction industry.

Speaking during the convention, Crown Paints Kenya PLC Head of Construction Sector, Tom Oyier, called on industry professionals to uphold ethics, quality and sustainability standards in order to strengthen the future of the sector.

“As the industry continues to evolve, professionals must remain committed to quality, ethics and sustainable building practices that support long-term growth and industry credibility,” said Oyier.

Founded in 1949, KABCEC has grown into one of Kenya’s leading industry associations, representing over 400 member organisations across the building and civil engineering sector. The association continues to play a key role in supporting professional development, industry collaboration and policy engagement within the construction space.

The convention featured discussions on construction materials, site services, emerging technologies, regulatory compliance and operational efficiency, while also providing opportunities for participants to interact with manufacturers and suppliers showcasing innovative building solutions.

Industry stakeholders noted that forums such as the KABCEC CPD Convention are critical in equipping professionals with the right skills, knowledge and insights required to support Kenya’s growing infrastructure and construction needs while maintaining global industry standards.
