Aleem Manji’s Death Robs the Architectural Profession Great Talent

Architect Aleem Manji, Principal Architect at Aleem Manji Architects (AMA) and radio presenter, who died suddenly over the weekend, will be remembered for his humour and traffic updates on East FM besides his iconic architectural designs.

The architect died just six days after celebrating his birthday with his family and friends.

Some of his greatest projects include The Rumaisa, Solitaire, Atithi and the Loft.

Aleem founded AMA about 12 years ago. He went on to design award-winning projects, bagging the coveted African Property Awards in 2017/18 for his two projects The Elegance and Rumaisa. The architect also made it to Nation Media Group’s Top 40 Under 40 Men in 2017.

In an interview with Construction Kenya Showcase in 2021, Aleem attributed his success to a number of factors.

“It’s a little bit of both luck and hard work. I’ve been lucky to work with a very talented and supportive team as well.”  He said the property boom at the time of AMA’s conception also significantly helped to propel the firm’s take-off.
