The Government’s quest for Affordable Housing received a boost last week with the handover of 48 apartments to buyers of Unity Home’s development at Tatu City in Ruiru. This comes just one year after the British-Kenya Venture broke ground on the Sh 4.5b project whose first phase consists of 384 units.
The apartments, are spread among four blocks with each block holding 12 units. The organization hopes to deliver another 48 units in October this year. The entire first phase of the project, is expected to be complete by 2022.
“One year after breaking ground, Unity Homes has achieved its goal of delivering accessibly priced housing,” said John Latham, Executive Director of Unity Homes. “Our inspiration is driven by the desire to see as many Kenyans as possible access good housing in a safe, secure and modern environment.”
Among the guests at the ceremony was British High Commissioner to Kenya, Jane Marriott.
Tatu City is a 5,000-acre, mixed-use development with homes, schools, offices, a shopping district, medical clinics, nature areas, a sport and entertainment complex and manufacturing area. Schools and businesses are already operational at the massive development.
