Kiambu County has neither raised land rates nor introduced new ones for freehold land, Governor Kimani Wamatangi has said.
The Governor said that since he assumed office, he has been working with the rates established by the previous administrations.
“The County Government of Kiambu wishes to notify the general public that it has not increased land rates”, said the County in a statement. “Please note that the rates we are implementing already exist in the Kiambu County Valuation and Rating Act 2016 that was enacted by the County Assembly in 2016 and adopted in 2018.”
Regarding rates for freehold land, the County said it was subject to the national government’s Valuation for Rating Act 2015 Cap 266, which was passed by the National Assembly. – Nation
