President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of residential houses for the Kenya Defence Forces.
The project, which is aligned with the Affordable Housing Pillar of the Government’s Big 4 Agenda, will be implemented in Nairobi, Mombasa and Nakuru Counties.
Service personnel from the rank of Private to Warrant Officers are earmarked for the first phase of this grand project through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) at a cost of Ksh. 7.5 billion.
The 2,340 housing units are set to be in five locations namely Roysambu (15 acres), Kwambuzi in Nanyuki (300 acres), Nyali Barracks (10 acres), Lanet Barracks (21) and Gilgil Barracks (200 acres) constructed on a Build-Lease-and Transfer (BLT) basis.
